We had a small turn-out for the racing, but the motos were fun to watch. The old school guys showed up with tonnes of vintage jerseys, books and bikes. Tons of pics here.

Then over to the skatepark for hours of concrete madness. Big Thanks to Armin for getting the old bikes out there.

And another big thanks the Armand from Urban Menace Bikes for giving some great prizes for the kids. If you’re in need of any kind of bike parts, head out to Richmond and take a peek at his store. Lots of fun stuff from vintage to cruisers to race.

Thanksgiving Dinner + BMX Awesomeness!!

If you’re heading out to the grands in Chilliwack, you don’t want to rush back for dinner. Hang out with all the racers and have some tasty turkey in the Big Red Barn.

The Thanksgiving turkey dinner will be offered once again this year at the Canadian Grands. Price is $15 per plate and includes turkey dinner, salad, dessert and beverages. The caterer needs to know how many meals to prepare by September 15 latest. RSVP to Marie Davidson at marie@nanaimobmx.com include number of adults and children under 7 that will be attending.

We’ve added a Sunday race (single point) for August 29th sign-up 10-11am. We’ll race and have a BBQ lunch then we can check out all the old school bikes on display. There will also be a contest at the skatepark for the freestyle kids.

We had a pro-am on the schedule this friday, unfortunately we will cancel that race as well. The track needs to get packed down so get out there and do some laps. So you on Monday for gate practice.

We will have to cancel practice (it’s a holiday and it should have been off the schedule anyway) and racing this week. The track still needs some more work done and we would LOVE to see everyone down on Tuesday night to help groom. Bring a rake down and we can get the track ready for next week. All the big machines are done but we need to rake and clean up the leftovers. We still want volunteers, please come out on Sunday and bring a rake if you’ve got one. The more work we get done now increases our chances of racing on Tuesday!!

BC Summer Games Pics

Langley BMX was the host venue for the BC Summer Games BMX race this Saturday. The BCSG events were for athletes between 12-16 years old; racers had to compete in select events for their zones earlier this spring in order to earn a spot in this race.

Congratulations to Bailey McHale-Boulter, Hayden Mechielsen, Alanah Erickson, Malcolm Kemp, Dustin Pospolita, & Melissa Ruscheinski for their selection and participation in this once-in-a-lifetime event!
