Another fantastic turn-out for the work party on Sunday. Everybody worked hard to bring the track back to life. We just want to thank everyone who gave up part of their weekend to get dirty for us. When over 20 parents and kids all put in such a great effort you know we’re doing something right!!!

Rain Info

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Unfortunately we had to cancel both the practice and the race this week because of rain.  The track can actually absorb quite a bit of water and still be dry enough to ride in about an hour. So we look to the skies and try and guess if it will be dry by 6pm. We would prefer not to cancel anything and we wait until the last minute to post a cancellation (usually by 5pm).  If there is nothing posted here then we will try and ride. Until we have a retractable roof, the rain can still spoil a night of racing.

Provincial Qualifier offer to members of Langley BMX-
On Sunday, July 19 Squamish BMX will be hosting their Provincial Qualifier. Langley BMX will pay entry fees ($15.00 per rider) for this race for any member of Langley BMX that participates that day.
You must register for this offer at the sign up window at Langley prior to July 19 so we know how many riders will be taking advantage of this.
We are trying to support Squamish BMX as they are our closest ABA neighbour track and we’d love to have a large group from Langley BMX go up and support them. Watch the website for more details, but mark your calendar for that weekend as there is 700 District points up for grabs between our two tracks that weekend!
Check the race schedule for our PCR which is the same weekend…we’ll be racing on Friday night AND Saturday.

2009 RACE FOR LIFE

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

The 2009 Race for Life was a HUGE success this year. Great weather, great
racing, and great friends! We were humbled and honored that the Hemmingson’s made a family appearance to come out to support the event.
Kai Hemmingson raced in the memory of her older brother Matt.Spencer Cole-Mcgilligan of Team dEVo walked away with the winning bike.

Racing featured 28 motos, sprinkled with 130 riders from Squamish (ABA), North Vancouver (BC Cycling), Surrey (BC Cycling), Abbotsford (BC Cycling), Ridge Meadows (BC Cycling), Cumberland (ABA track, Coal Hills), and even Washington State joining the local Langley ABA contingent for some “No Politics Racing”. Once again, THANK YOU to our neighboring tracks for helping to support the event- especially Team dEVo! http://www.escapevelocity.bc.ca/bmx . Everywhere we looked, there was a Team dEVo jersey racing in a main.

At the end of the day, over $2,200.00 was raised for Children’s Hospital, including $500.00 raised from raffling off the Intense BMX donated by Canadian Bike Supplies ( www.bmxbc.com ), and the 50/50 pot getting donated back to the cause (by Team dEVo parent James Bercic, the winner).

The racing itself wasn’t too shabby either, with two full racks of open class in the 9-10 & 10-11 groups.

The dinosaur motos were massive! A few of the guys showed up to the track in cranky moods (the local kids won’t stop playing on their front lawns), and they did not disappoint. The cruiser main featured fossils Jack Hutton and George Kruzcamp battling it out in the final. George won in the end, holding off a late charge by Black Jack. In 20” Expert Geezer Class, Don Pillon and Gerry Erickson went hard. Don won the holeshot, and also rode Gerry up in the 2nd corner. Gerry responded right back by cutting inside Don on the last corner to make a great pass, and take the win. It was a great exhibition of hard nosed racing. Rumors that Langley BMX has created a fund to pay Don to come out for every race are simply hearsay.

You may have also noticed Blair from http://sidelinehotshots.com/ out taking some action shots. He’s going through the batch, and should have the photos posted in the next couple of days. You will need to register on his site to view, as photos will be password protected
