CANADA DAY, July 1, 2009

Langley BMX is calling out ALL BMXers to join us on Canada Day for the Race For Life.

This year, all proceeds go towards the BC Children’s Hospital in memory of Matt Hemmingson, a North Vancouver BMXer who passed away last September at 9 years old after a 14-month battle with cancer.

Matt and his family were very familiar faces around all of our local tracks; on July 1st, anyone with a bike, and anyone without a license can come race. Your $10.00 donation race fee goes to BC Children’s Hospital. BMX racers from all surrounding Cycling BC and ABA tracks are welcome and encouraged to participate!

In addition to BMX Racing, we’ll have:

~1st Race of the Langley BMX Mountain Motos Summer Series- come on out you 4xers and dirt jumpers!

~Raffle for limited edition Intense BMX, donated by the folks at CBS ( www/bmxbc.com ), thanks Ron!

~BMX Gear Swap Meet

Sign-up is between 9-10 AM. We look forward to seeing everyone.

What is the Race For Life?

It all started in 1981 when an avid 12 year old BMX racer from Michigan discovered he had Leukemia. Todd Kingsbury was his name, and like many BMXers, he had dreams of someday becoming a top pro in the sport. Unfortunately, this dreaded disease would keep Todd from fulfilling his dream. When Todd`s friends and the American Bicycle Association learned of his diagnosis, it was decided that an organized effort should be made to help in Todd`s “Race for Life.” The first ABA “Race for Life” events were formed that year, with over 130 tracks participating and raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® . Ever since, the ABA has held a series of “Race for Life” events across the US and Canada.

Please consider giving our sponsors a call if you need anything in their areas of specialty. Also, did you know Canadian Bike Supply does accept ABA Saver stamps? They’re the only Canadian shop that accepts them. CBS is also donating a limited edition Intense BMX bike for raffle at the Race for Life, July 1st! All proceeds will go to the Children’s Hospital!

Work party huge sucess

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

The work party on Sat. at the track was a huge
sucess. Plenty of hardworking volunteers gave up
their Sat. afternoon to give back to Langley BMX
and the community. It was followed by a food and
bevies on the new track BBQ. Thank you to all
that were able to make it out.
