A few Langley BMX families made the trek to Airdrie, Alberta this weekend to compete in the CBA Western Canadian Series. Despite being held in Alberta and early season, there was a strong BC presence, and a very competitive turn-out with 334 entries on Saturday, and 314 on Sunday.
Langley racers showed extremely well, and represented the track with great results. Here’s a snapshot of the results:
• Loclynn Erickson, 9 Novice 20”: took 3rd on Saturday, and 1st on Sunday.
• Jaelynn Tielen, 13 Novice Female: took 4th both days
• Alanah Lewis, 14 Novice Female: took 1st both days
• Laura Culbertson, Cruiser 35 to 39 Female: took 1st both days
• Naomi Tielen, Cruiser 35 to 39 Female: took 5th both days
• Mike Meade, Cruiser 30-34 Men: took 3rd both days
• Michael Meade, 10 Inter, 20”: Qualified both days for the mains, took 2nd on Saturday, and 3rd on Sunday.
• Bobby Worth, 11 Expert, 20”: Qualified both days for the mains, took 4th on Saturday, and 2nd on Sunday.
Patrick Camire has stepped up to Junior Elite Class. Patrick had some very stiff competition to qualify for his mains; he was on the outside looking in Saturday, but came back, and stepped it up with some very strong riding on Sunday to qualify and finish 6th in the final.
Due to being the only Masters racer signed up, Gerry Erickson raced in the Elite Class against the young guns. Sunday’s last Elite qualification moto was highlighted by Gerry laying everything out, taking chances, and going hard for a spot in the main. His last ditch effort resulted in a tangle on the last corner, with Gerry playing the part of crayon on the concrete corners. A very gutsy effort by an old pro!
I hope I haven’t missed anyone. Great showing from Langley!
